New Features: July 17, 2024

The features announced with this release. Screenshots and menu names are shown as they were at the time. See the Version History for every release.

Transfer Design Ownership

We have added the ability to transfer ownership of your designs and folders to Partner organizations. This will allow contractors, consultants, and manufacturers to transition Harnesses and other designs to Partner Teams.

To do this, you can simply select a design or folder in your library and click the Transfer Ownership button in the toolbar.

If you don't have a Partnership established, you can create a Partnership by navigating to File > Account > Partners.

Resolve Missing Designs

We added a feature to resolve any missing designs in your library. This feature is useful if you have accidentally deleted a design from your library, or a design was transferred to your team without some essential subcomponents.

This feature is added as a Library Tool (File > Library) and can also be accessed from the Assembly of any open design.

When you identify a design that is missing from your library, you can launch the resolve designs wizard, which will walk you through the process of automatically restoring a design and updating all references to the given design.

Design Configuration Enhancements

We have added several updates to design configurations. Configurations allow you to assign related parts to your designs, such as associating a set of Contacts with your Connectors, and automatically add these parts when the connector is used in a Harness. Configurations are available in Connectors, Ferrules, Quick Connect Terminals, Ring Terminals, Spade Terminals, Diodes, Resistors, and Splices.

With this update:

  • You can access the configurations menu from the Top Level drawing by right-clicking on a component (ex: Connector, Splice, Ring Terminal).
  • You can now clone an existing configuration to quickly make a copy of your current configuration. This option is found in the dropdown next to the Add configuration button when editing a design with configurations.
  • You can clear all configurations from a component by right-clicking on a design in your Harness Assembly and select Configurations > Clear All Configurations
  • The new default behavior will overwrite and replace any existing configurations when a new configuration is applied within a Harness. For example, if you have a Connector with a Backshell, and apply a new configuration with a different Backshell, the Backshell will be replaced in your Harness design. You can configure this setting in File > Settings > General > Design Configurations

Harness Connection Editor Columns

We have added additional columns (Notes and Wire Size) to the Harness Connection Editor. This will help display additional information when building your harness drawings!

When you are designing a Harness, you can simply expand the Connection Editor width and the additional columns will automatically be displayed. You can change this behavior by right-clicking on the column headers and assign the default behavior in File > Settings > Harnesses > Connection Editor.

Other Enhancements

Design Assembly Expand/Collapse All

  • We added a shortcut option to expand and collapse all nodes in the design assembly. This will let you quickly expand and collapse the entire assembly tree on a specific element.

Wire Size

  • We have renamed the table column terminology from wire Gauge to Size. All wire size units will still be included in the outputs and will continue to display mm2 or AWG.

Cutlist Table Notes

  • The Cutlist Table in the Table Template design will now have the optional column Notes, to display any connection notes in a harness drawing. Any cables in the Cutlist will combine multiple notes to display all related connection notes for cables with multiple wires.
