New Features: September 9, 2019

The features announced with this release. Screenshots and menu names are shown as they were at the time. See the Version History for every release.

New Library - Powered by Octopart!

When you add new designs to your drawings, you can now directly search Octopart's database of over 40 million parts! In this dialog, you can search for generic terms or a specific part number. When you find a part you are interested in, you can simply double-click the result and it will be added to your Harness!

Alongside this, all results from Octopart will contain a Part Number, Manufacturer, Description, Images, Datasheets, and an Octopart link. When a new design is created based off of Octopart information, RapidHarness will parse the data from Octopart and attempt to pre-fill all relevant design details.

Open Screen Updates

We've also updated the Open screen to show a few more details about your designs! On the left, you can now search within 'My Company' which shows all designs in your Company's library and 'My Designs' which shows designs that you have modified. Additional designs (including generic components) will still be available through the Add Dialog.

Lastly, we've updated the look of the designs in your library as well as their details on the right. You can also right-click on your designs to see additional options, such as opening in the background and deleting a design.

Design Assembly - Deletion Notifications

When working with the Design Assembly, you will now see a notification if an associated design has been deleted from your library. This notification will show up as shown in the image below. If your design is in this state, you can always right-click on the part and select "Change Design..." to switch your component to a design that is in your library.

Design Assembly - Recursive Children Notifications

Now, when a part in the Design Assembly has a notification (Newer Version Available or Design Deleted), you will see this notification appear on all of the part's parents. In the example below, if you have a Backshell that has been deleted, and a Boot with a Newer Version Available, both notification icons will appear on the Connector and Connectors folder. This change will allow you to more quickly find potential issues in your Design Assembly even when designs and folders are collapsed!
